Basil W Martinez, 95 of Hemet, California passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017, at Anna's Park Haven Board and Care in Hemet, California. He was born in Horton Kansas on Wednesday, June 14, 1922 to the late Patricio and Visenta Martinez. He was a veteran for the US Army and served in WWII. Basil worked for the San Bernardino Unified School District for over 34 years teaching Math and US History. He had a very large impact on his students and was in contact with many of them throughout his life. Basil enjoyed reading and traveling. During his summer time off from teaching he explored the world and completed his bucket list. He was a proud graduate from UCLA and made donations and participated in many events there. He also followed their sports teams and like it when they were successful. His family describe him as a very caring man who loved his family, friends and students. He was a care giver for many years for his siblings during some of their difficult times. Surviving are his brother Felix Martinez and his wife Joyce; sister Addie Dumon with many nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday July 13, 2017 , staging area # 1 at Riverside National Cemetery located at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard Riverside, California 92518.
