Mary Lou Walsmith, 89 of San Jacinto, CA passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Hemet Valley Medical Center.
Born Tuesday, April 30, 1929 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Lloyd Levers and the late Margareta (Hammer) Levers, and the wife of the late Harold Walsmith.
Mary Lou grew up in Los Angeles where she attended Marshall High School. She lived and worked at various jobs in Los Angeles, San Diego and eventually in Huntington Park where she met Harold Walsmith. After she and “Wally” married, they settled in La Mirada, where she was active in the Episcopal church and enjoyed being Gail’s Girl Scout leader. She loved being mother to Gail and Tom and they happily added Greg to their family through adoption.
In 1971, after Gail and Tom were grown, they moved to the Boise valley area where Greg grew up. She spent most of her career as a sales person in the retail industry. In 1990 they moved to Las Vegas where they lived and worked until they retired. After retirement they settled in San Jacinto, where she has enjoyed living for more than 20 years.
Mary Lou was a cat and animal lover, and often donated to causes to save animals. She was a homemaker and loved decorating her house with knick-knacks and tending to her garden. Mary Lou was also very family oriented and loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are sister, Maria Ernst, son, Gregory Walsmith, step-son, Tom Walsmith, step-daughter, Gail Bonagafsky, several grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a visitation from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Hemet, 1501 West Florida Avenue, Hemet, CA to be followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM at Miller-Jones Hemet Mortuary.
Interment will be in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
