Life Story for
Katherine Clark
Katherine Ethel Clark was born on September 9, 1924 in Akron, OH and passed away peacefully on January 6, 2018 at the Village Health Care Center in Hemet, CA. She is survived by her son, Charles Clark, and daughter Doreen Berry; grandchildren Ben and Sophia Clark; great-grandchild Isabella Clark; and stepson David Berry. Katherine was the 11th child of 13 born to Austrian-Hungarian immigrants Zarko and Anna Rockrich. Her surviving siblings are Dan and George Rockrich.
She grew up in Ohio and later moved to Arizona. It was in Arizona where she married Larry Clark in March 1944 while he was in flight training during World War II. They went on to a married life of 70 years together. After the war, they settled down in the Los Angeles area with their two children. Katherine was a working mom, providing 30 years of service as a full-time supermarket grocery checker. Always friendly with a warm smile, it was no wonder she was one of the most popular among co-workers and customers alike. Even after a hard day of work, Mom brought the same winning traits home to her family and somehow managed to find time to cook and help raise the children.
After retirement in 1982, Larry and Kay moved to Hemet, CA where they spent the rest of their lives. They enjoyed traveling with the Avion campers. At home, Mom spent many hours tending to the garden, cooking delicious meals and following her passion of making pies of every kind for desert: apple, cherry, blueberry, pumpkin, rhubarb and lemon among her favorites.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate to know her. Services will be held at Miller Jones Mortuary, Hemet on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, and for those desiring to do so, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
