Life Story for
Howard Conrad
Howard Conrad Sr., 92 of San Jacinto, California passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.
Born Saturday, May 15, 1926 in Wausau, Wisconsin. He was the husband of Armida Conrad.
Howard was a proud veteran, he served as a PFC in the U.S. Marines in WWII in the Pacific.
He was good with his hands, he spent nearly 40 years as a District Manager at Design for Living/Raffee Carpets and he was also craftsman and woodworker in his spare time. When you needed something built Howard could make it for you.
In his free time, Howard enjoyed Baja Racing and was a friend of Corky McMillin, who is one of the best known Baja racers. He also loved to play pool and was known as a pool shark; there weren’t too many matches he lost.
He enjoyed exploring the area, he loved to take long drives around the area to learn about the history of the area and take camping trips. After retirement, he worked for an RV company and would drive RVs from California to New York and back to California.
He also had a green thumb. He liked gardening and just being outside. Golfing was also a passion of Howard’s, he enjoyed watching golf tournaments on TV.
Howard was also involved in the community, he was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #848, the Elk’s Lodge of San Diego County and Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are sons, Kelly Conrad, Jeff Conrad and Howie Conrad, step-son, Charlie Valencia, step-daughters, Cherie Valencia-Nelson, Sheryl Holt, 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Fuhrer, step-son, Anthony Peter Holt and grandson, Anthony J. Holt.
A visitation will be held at the Miller-Jones Hemet Chapel on Friday, September 14 from 9-11 a.m. A service will follow at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA. on Friday, September 14 at 1:30 p.m.
