Life Story for
Anita Louise Ham
Anita Ham
January 4, 1922 - July 29th, 2018
Born Louise Anita Davis to Lyle Alfred Davis and Theresa Annetta DeGoyler Davis, January 4th, 1922, in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Anita was their only child and moved with her parents to the Los Angeles suburbs at age seven. She was a good student and sang in the Glee Club. She married Glen Witt in 1940 and had one son; Barry Witt. In 1946 she married John Riley Ham and had two daughters: Nancy and Jeanne Ham. She made her homes in Compton, Redondo, Lakewood, Banning, Canyon Lake, Sun City and finally Rancho Cucamonga, California. Anita is pictured at 91 years old and lived to be 96.
Employed as a secretary with Warner Brothers in the 50’s and with Boys Market as a “Checker” in the 50’s and 60’s. She retired in 1970 to devote herself to being: “Gramma Nita”.
Anita was a dedicated home maker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great Grandmother; truly forgave and forgot, putting others first. She was an avid reader, she enjoyed cross word puzzles and board games, a gifted poet, Seamstress, Quilter, Knitter and Crafter, even whittled. Very patriotic and dedicated to Christ. She supported her local church and organizations that spread the Gospel, worked to preserve the U S Constitution, and benefitted Veterans.
Anita came to faith in Jesus Christ in 1964 at Bellflower Church of Christ. She grew in her faith under Dr. George Peak of North Long Beach Brethren Church. She and John served and grew with the Cherry Valley Brethren Church in Banning. Canyon Lake Community Church challenged her and gave her the opportunity to help put their large Library on the computer. In 2005 she lost her loving husband of 59 years and never quite missing him. Menifee Bible Church ministered to her as a widow, as did CLCC through their “Angels”: Al and Gil who became her personal handymen, over and above anything imagined, gracious, proactive and patient as Dementia began to immerge.
While under the loving care of Atria Del Rey and Vitas (Hospice), with daughter Jeanne at her side, Anita was Promoted to glory peacefully, late Sunday night, July 29th, 2018, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her husband John, great grandson Mason Andrew Naimo and those that preceded her, “Trusting Christ”. (John 3:17, Psalm 116:15)
Anita is survived by her son: Barry (and Anke) Witt, daughters: Nancy (and Tony) Naimo and Jeanne Russo, six Grandchildren and spouses, thirteen GREAT Grandkids and “brother” Virgil (and Jackie) Borger and “sister” Irene Phillips.
